Eligibility, Requirements and Applying
1. Freshman applicants must submit a General Freshman Application to CUNY. There is $70.00 non-refundable application-processing fee.
2. A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) Diplomas in a language other than English are accepted. Foreign G.E.D.s and wallet-sized diplomas are not accepted. (Review the
CUNY guidelines for supporting documents.)
3. Official high school transcripts must be delivered directly from the high school in a sealed, school-issued envelope. Transcripts in a language other than English are accepted. (Review the
CUNY guidelines for supporting documents.)
4. Immunization records must reflect satisfaction of New York State immunization requirements for measles, mumps and rubella. A Meningitis Response Form must also be submitted.
5. The SATs and ACT tests are not required because students take the ACT placement tests at LaGuardia after they are admitted to the College. If you take your placement tests two months before the first day of classes, but do not score well on a test, you may be eligible to take a free refresher course. If you have already taken the SAT and/or ACT tests, your scores may exempt you from having to take our placement tests.
6. Register for Day/Extended Day status. You may enroll in day, evening and weekend classes regardless of your status; however, the College’s internship requirements vary depending on you status and major. Read more on the
Cooperative Education Department website.
7. Review the
Apply Now checklist and download an Admission Application Worksheet for General Freshman for full instructions on submitting applications and supporting documents.
