Social Science for Social Justice Conference

The Social Science Department and the Women’s Center invite students, faculty, and staff to participate in The Seventh Annual LaGuardia Community College Social Science Student and Faculty Conference: Social Science for Social Justice. This two-day event offers an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to engage in conversations about the contribution of Social Science for Social Justice.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Susan Kirch, the Department of Teaching and Learning, New York University:
Being and Becoming Scientists: Developing a learner-scientist perspective for teaching and learning science. Dr. Kirch will address the issues of student/teachers co-creating learning environments for science, learning/teaching, the nature of knowledge construction. She will also raise questions such as who can be/become a scientist? what is scientific knowledge? and how does one contribute to it?
