Humanities Professor Sumanth Inukonda Chronicles the Revolutionary Struggles of the People of Telangana, India
May 13, 2020
In his recently published book, "Media, Nationalism and Globalization; The Telangana Movement and Indian Politics," Humanities Professor Sumanth Inukonda describes the discordant history of Telangana, a region of India, and the decades of struggle its people undertook to fight to become an individual state within India.
At a launch event for the book held in February 2020, Professor Joni Schwartz, spoke about the many applications of the book to teaching, including the power of intellectual activism, as well as the role of art and theatre in influencing and educating communities.
“With so many LaGuardia students from marginalized communities, scholarly work like Dr. Inukonda’s helps students to connect their lived experiences to larger social issues, and introduces them to communication strategies that can affect real, substantial change in communities,” said Dr. Schwartz.
