Compounded Sterile Preparation Certification

Certified Pharmacy Technicians, enhance your skills and advance your career with the Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) Certification. You will receive training on the latest USP <797> guidelines for compounding sterile preparations through hands-on and didactic applications. Topics include aseptic technique, risk levels, clean room practices, compounding calculations, product stability, hazardous drugs, and proper technique and manipulation. Upon completion of this course, you will earn a LaGuardia certificate of completion. After program completion and one year of full-time work experience in compounded sterile preparations, you'll be eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) CSPT certification exam. This course includes practical lab instruction and supplies. ND Prerequisite: Must be a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). (Cost of textbook included in course fee.)


Pharmacy Technician Certification Preparation

Develop the skills you need to work under a registered pharmacist. Prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) and become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Topics include the history of pharmacy practice, law and ethics, basic math skills, medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defining drugs by generic and brand names. You will also study dosage calculations and conversions, IV flow rates, drug compounding, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing, and reimbursement. To help you build professional relationships and navigate challenges on the job more efficiently, you will discuss effective communication, team building, time management, and critical thinking skills. This course includes practical lab instruction and supplies. You may also qualify for an internship or job placement assistance. Prerequisite: High school diploma or equivalency and passing of an online screening test. (Cost of textbook and exam voucher included in course fee.) Payment plan available. Pharmacy Technician Screening Test

All students interested in the Pharmacy Technician Certification Preparation program must pass this screening. There is no fee for this screening and you will be able to take the test immediately after completing your registration.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to work legally in the U.S.
  • No prior drug conviction
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Passing of an online screening test
