FAQ
What will I learn in CLIP?
CLIP’s goal is to help you develop the skills you need to succeed in college. You will improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English by studying content areas, like history, science and biographies. You will do assignments in class, research projects, and work in the computer lab. You’ll also learn about college and get help with financial aid to continue your education in college.
How can I qualify for CLIP?
You must complete a CUNY application, be admitted into one of the CUNY colleges, and take the ESL D assessment instrument. Based on your ESL D placement, you may be referred to CLIP. A college counselor can also suggest that you enroll in CLIP.
How long can I stay in CLIP?
You can enroll in CLIP for four sessions (or one year). You still have your place in college during this time, and you will receive help to start college courses when you to exit the CLIP program.
How much does CLIP cost and how do I register?
Please see the
How to Apply
section.
Can I use financial aid to pay for CLIP?
No, and you must reapply for financial aid to start college after studying in CLIP.
Can international students attend CLIP?
